Welcome to Coolest Kids Crafts

Kids crafts are a great way to spend time with your child learning new skills. Maybe you have a child who wants to learn a new craft and you are looking for easy crafts to challenge and inspire. I offer a wide selection of easy kids crafts for various age ranges, skills and interests. Or maybe you have a child who simply isn’t interested in crafts. But maybe that’s because he’s never been exposed to easy and inspirational crafts that actually serve a purpose once they are finished. What child can resist the pride of accomplishment in a personalized craft that he can really use or give away after completing it!

On this site you’ll find some of the coolest kids crafts around, for toddlers to teens. Follow your child’s interests. If your ten-year old is passionate about knitting this is where you’ll find loads of engaging and fun knitting patterns for any skill level, from beginners to advanced. The best way to learn a new skill is to start with making something you love. Your young knitter can find a variety of knitting patterns for her American Girl doll or similar 18” doll. Help her skills to shine in making cool gifts for friends or things for herself!

I’ve discussed what you’ll find on this site, but maybe you’ve wondered “why should you do crafts with your kids? Why not just seat your wiggly preschooler in front of the tv screen for the morning?” Yes, that may be a temporary solution but passive entertainment won’t help your child develop the fine motor skills and human interaction skills necessary to live an accomplished life today. Let’s take a look at what time spent with your child doing fun and easy crafts together can do.

– It will teach your child hand/eye coordination and the necessary fine motor skills

– It will teach your child patience and perseverance in completing a project

– It will give a sense of true creativity by showing what you can make with common household supplies. Some of the most favorite and eye-catching crafts are those made with paper, staples, fabric scraps and glue

– The finished crafts will be treasured gifts that your child can give to grandparents, cousins or friends

– By spending time interacting with your child both you and he will develop the parent/child bond that all happy and successful families have

– Your child will finish the project with a sense of accomplishment and pride in a craft well done

– It will give your child confidence which will carry over into other areas of life

Try it and see the results for yourself! You might think that the idea sounds easy but wonder how to really start. That is where I hope to help. I offer a wide variety of fun and easy kids crafts sorted for different interests and skill levels. Each set of patterns and/or instructions comes with a complete list of supplies needed to complete the craft project and an age recommendation for that project. Many of the paper-based crafts have downloadable/printable templates as well.

There are many options with the templates: use them as is or be creative and design your own. Once the basic craft is finished most will be able to be decorated by the child. Use your imagination in that area! There are so many decorating options: stickers, beads, glitter and paper cutouts. There is no limit to what you can do with these crafts except the limit of your imagination!

Crafts are not just a modern invention! The early form of rubber stamps was a block of wood with a raised design on the surface. The carver would draw the picture he wanted on the surface of the block and then cut out all the wood that was not a part of the picture. And the result was the raised design which would be rubbed in ink and and stamped onto the paper or wood. It makes our modern rubber stamps seem like nothing in comparison to the effort that was put into one of those wood stamps.

During the medieval times the ladies of the castles spent a good part of their time embroidering designs onto many different kinds and textures of fabric to be used for wall hangings, bedspreads, pillow covers, napkins and more. Their work was practical while beautiful to look at!

Enjoy spending time with your child and build confidence and creativity with fun and easy kids crafts!
